Title: Her Legendary Highlander
(Lovers & Legends #13)
Author: Nicole Locke
Published: December 2021
Genre: Historical Romance, Historical Fiction, Sagas, Medieval Romance, Harlequin Historical, Mills & Boon

Blurb:

Her rugged prisoner

becomes her fiercest protector

Capturing legendary Highlander Malcolm of Clan Colquhoun was Andreona’s last chance to win her tyrannical father’s respect. Instead he orders them both to be killed! Resigned to her devastating role as the family outcast, she and her prisoner escape and continue on is quest to return a treasured heirloom. They find solace in their unexpected passion, but haunted by a lifetime of betrayals, will either dare to hope it could last beyond their journey?

From Harlequin Historical: Your romantic escape to the past.

My Review:

Bravo, bravo Nicole Locke! I so love it! I couldn’t help but feeling fascinated after having finished reading it. Andreona is spying two suspicious men coming towards Basque terrain. She and her childhood friend, Uracca have safeguarded and designed a net to catch uninvited outsiders to be sent to her father, Gorka, in order to gain her father’s approval. Actually Andreona and other women are banished from Basque clan because they are half-blood of the clan thus she is strongly inclined to impress her father by catching trespassers so that she can return to the clan.

When Andreona’s friends succeed in catching his only friend, Malcolm infiltrates into Andreona’s place and there, they begin wrestling and I was instantly impressed because Andreona is a tiny lass on the other hand Malcolm is a beautiful big man with a long scar from the body along his face and eventually he becomes her prisoner. Malcolm determinedly approaches Basque Country to acquire a dagger that has Jewell of Kings and mysterious treasure beneath it for his clan then he plans to run and evade his family due to his profound mistrust and family’s betrayal.

The more I turned the pages, the more I couldn’t stop reading particularly when Andreona finds out that her brother and childhood friend’s betrayal. Malcolm fully understands how it feels to be betrayed and he has compelling desire towards her therefore when she rather insists on going with Malcolm than going with her friend, he agrees.

I kept wondering how Miss Locke could create this story with its engrossing historical intrigue and plot, two characters who had similar issue yet each overcame it with different views and more important, its slow-burn attraction between Malcolm and Andreona. Andreona is a complete innocent (literally) and I loved when Malcolm leads the move. Yuhuuuu …

Her Legendary Highlander captivated me into emotional roller-coaster through its characters combined with its engrossing historical intrigue and plot and the uplifting ending that made me want to read the other series. Thank you, Nicole Locke, for this ARC which I voluntary reviewed.

Title: The Greek Secret She Carries
(The Diamond Inheritance #3)
Author: Pippa Roscoe
Published: November 2021
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Mills & Boon Modern, Harlequin Presents

Blurb:

The Greek billionaire’s world will never be the same in this page-turning pregnancy romance from Pippa Roscoe!

Five months ago: their unforgettable night

Now: the scandalous consequence!

When Summer Soames landed in Athens, she wanted to find a missing piece of her past…yet found combustible chemistry with enigmatic Theron Thiakos instead! Just as quickly as their intense fling started, it dramatically imploded…and Summer was firmly shut out of his life.

Now rumors bring Theron to Summer’s doorstep to discover her shocking pregnancy is as obvious as the still-sizzling desire between them! He’s determined to give their child the family unit he lost. But Summer’s trust isn’t easily won…and Theron’s secrets aren’t easily shared…

From Harlequin Presents: Escape to exotic locations where passion knows no bounds.

My Review:

What a delightful read! Despite having not read the two prior series, the latest The Diamond Inheritance series enchantingly and perfectly completed it. Most of the stories set in the past and recall the flashback how Theron, the handsome, effortlessly attractive hero is angry with his best friend-more-like-brother whom plans on purchasing Soames’s estate in Norfolk. He is angry because the estate is owned by Summer, the daughter of his respected savior in Greece and his one-unforgettable-night stand.

Wanting to know who her father was, five months prior, Summer went to Greece but she couldn’t face him as he had been away therefore she followed after Theron to find out when her father returned. When she was waiting in the café, three Greek men made a bet who could sleep with an innocent English tourist therefore Theron rescued her. Desirably having mutual attraction, Theron and Summer had a night together. Unfortunately the next day, when Summer’s father visited Theron, Theron thought Summer had deceived him thus he threw her out however after five months, Theron comes after her and finds out that she is pregnant.

To be frank I so love everything within this story, the hunting treasure, the strong bond between Soames family and the foremost Summer and Theron. Summer is an innocent rational deductive geophysics student and is determined to investigate where the diamonds are to help her mother meanwhile Theron feels greatly indebted to his savior, Summer’s father and has terrible past of having people leave him but both want to give what is the best for their unborn child.

The Greek Secret She Carries has immersive setting and is romantically engaging and satisfying, despite having so many characters, every role within is so clear. And I hope there will be story for Theron’s best friend, Lykos. Thank you, Pippa Roscoe, for this ARC.

Title: Never Fall for Your Fiancée
(The Merriwell Sisters #1)

Author: Virginia Heath
Published: November 2021
Genre: Historical Romance, Romance-Comedy

Blurb:

The first in a new historical rom-com series, a handsome earl hires a fake fiancée to keep his matchmaking mother at bay, but hilarity ensues when love threatens to complicate everything.

The last thing Hugh Standish, Earl of Fareham, ever wants is a wife. Unfortunately for him, his mother is determined to find him one, even from across the other side of the ocean. So, Hugh invents a fake fiancée to keep his mother’s matchmaking ways at bay. But when Hugh learns his interfering mother is on a ship bound for England, he realizes his complicated, convoluted but convenient ruse is about to implode. Until he collides with a beautiful woman, who might just be the miracle he needs.

Minerva Merriwell has had to struggle to support herself and her two younger sisters ever since their feckless father abandoned them. Work as a woodcut engraver is few and far between, and the Merriwell sisters are nearly penniless. So, when Hugh asks Minerva to pose as his fiancée while his mother is visiting, she knows that while the scheme sounds ludicrous, the offer is too good to pass up.

Once Minerva and her sisters arrive at Hugh’s estate, of course, nothing goes according to his meticulous plan. As hilarity and miscommunication ensue, while everyone tries to keep their tangled stories straight, Hugh and Minerva’s fake engagement starts to turn into a real romance. But can they trust each other, when their relationship started a lie?

My Review:

What an excellent historical rom-com! Virginia Heath did it again! When Hugh is in despair to fix the mess he has created, he coincidentally finds a perfect candidate for a fake fiancée whom has very similar name like his fabrication, Minerva. Apart from the similarity, Hugh is quite astonished at her beauty which has black hair and green eyes that they mesmerize him. Being refused for the money she has earned from Mr. Pinkerton, Minerva is practically begging for it because she is totally penniless thus when Hugh offers her a considerable amount of money, Minerva couldn’t turn down the offer despite her conscience therefore she agrees.

I love how smitten when Hugh and Giles, Hugh’s good friend are with the Merriwell sisters, Hugh matter-of-factly has fallen for Minerva since the first meeting even though he always denies it because he is convinced that his ancestors are bad and he also has it within his vein. I enormously enjoyed all part of this book, Hugh begins teaching the Merriwell sisters etiquettes, and forms the Minerva he wants yet the real Minerva seems hopeless at whatever skills she has to posses. The scene when his mother arrives is beyond hilarious especially when Hugh and Minerva are in dispute and Payne, his butler tells him that men should apologize to women because it’s women’s law.

Never Fall for Your Fiancée is an absolute joy despite its little drama, unpredicted revelation and the flaw characters that kept me laughing, and the ending couldn’t be better! Thank you, Virginia Heath, for this ARC which I voluntary reviewed. I totally and thoroughly enjoyed reading this!

Title: The Spinster’s Swindle
(Arcane Tales #2)
Author: Catherine Stein
Published: November 2021
Genre: Historical Romance, Spiritualism

Blurb:

Revenge is in her future. But falling for her enemy’s son is one fate this spiritualist could never have envisioned.

Playwright Maxwell Millerson would rather spend his days dreaming up stories than cleaning up his father’s messes. But a trendy renovation has the family’s gaming club on the brink of ruin, and not even Max’s imagination can conjure a way out. Desperate he turns to the multi – talented – and alluringly audacious – Madame Xyla to help him spin gold from straw.

Lydia Weaver, professionally known as spiritualist Madame Xyla, has long sought revenge on the man responsible for her cousin’s imprisonment. When her enemy’s son visits her seance room seeking advice, Lydia leaps at the opportunity for vengeance. Until Max’s easy charm and poetic words threaten to turn her plans upside – down.

As their friendship grows and they give way their mutual attraction, Lydia and Max must weigh family duty with their hearts’ desires. And only when they confront old wounds and new feelings can a happy ending be in the cards.

My review:

I was charmed by Max’s charming gullible romantic characters that I could understand why Lydia fell for him despite her revenge. Max is in utter despair to fix his father messes thus he seeks Madam Xyla, a professional spiritualist to help him see the future and Madam Xyla gives him some brief insights, one of them is he requires a partner. For me, Lydia is a very unique heroine, apart from being good at gambling and being a spiritualist and her eccentric style, she is alluringly a tease that when Max encounters her and asks her as his partner, he is very tempted into her every character when they begin gambling to gain the money which apparently a trap for him.

At the peak of scenario of Lydia’s, Max has to clean up his father mess again when his father is going to unravel mummy to attract visitors but lose it. Lydia takes the leap to help him again to ruin the gambling club. I love the mummy’s show so much, it’s rich in detail that I could imagine how it was. I had been wondering why Lydia despises Max’s father so much until the past reveals how his father treats Lydia and her cousin when they were young. However as they become more than partner, they finally succumb to their steamy temptation.

This book is brilliant! What so attracting is that you will find in every chapter the goddess’ name and its definition, the unusual spiritualist and the romantic hero. Catherine Stein’s writing has always brought my imagination into the world I have never been into. Thank you, Catherine Stein, for the ARC!

Title: A Nun for the Viking Warrior
Author: Lucy Morris
Published: October 2021
Genre: Historical Romance, Mills & Boon Historical, Harlequin Historical

Blurb:

Forced to wed the warrior Falling for the man…

Noblewoman Amée Évreux had pledged her life to God, until her father promised her in marriage to thundering Norseman Jorund Jötunnson. After escaping her overbearing father, Amée vows never to fall under another man’s thumb, but her resistance to being Jorund’s wife turns to desire as she gets to know her intriguing new husband. For beneath his fierce exterior she’s glimpsed an unexpectedly pure heart. If only she can penetrate the fortress that surrounds it…

From Harlequin Historical: Your romantic escape to the past.

My Review:

A forced marriage between a very innocent nun and a giant Viking! What a captivating story! Lucy Morris’s latest book has me completely drawn to the story from the first chapter to the last. It began when a giant Viking, Jorund is trying to break the nunnery’s door to take Amée and coerce her to marry him due to her father’s contract with the King. Amée’s father owns the land called Évreux and Jorund is assigned to marry her to take the land. Yet when Jorund first sees Amée, he doesn’t expect the woman he is inclined to marry would be so small, fragile and entirely innocent.

I was so in love with Jorund, despite his Viking look, he is so tender, considerate and over-protective towards Amée however their relation is forged from preconceived assumptions that lead into terrible misunderstanding caused by their horrendous past. Besides, what so appealing from this book is that Lucy Morris again supplies the cultures and paradigm of religion and also mental concern within the history as well as the vivid and detailed description of the places, everything is so well-written and research.

Lucy Morris brings something different within this book, two complete opposite characters, one wants to be tougher and one wants to be very compassionate and tender are connected into an arranged marriage that leads into unanticipated emotional state through fulfilling closure. I so love it! Thank you, Lucy Morris, for this ARC which I voluntary reviewed.

Title: His Majesty’s Hidden Heir
(Princesses by Royal Decree Book 2)
Author: Lucy Monroe
Published: October 2021
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Mills & Boon Modern, Harlequin Presents

Blurb:

The prince is in for a shocking revelation this secret baby romance by USA TODAY bestselling author Lucy Monroe!

The mother of his child…

and wearing his crown?

Prince Konstantin can’t forget Emma Carmichael, who vanished after contract wedding forced him to end their relationship. A surprise meeting five years later shocks Konstantin – Emma has a son. Unmistakably his son.

Emma wants Konstantin in their son’s life – yet she’s wary. She’d had no choice but to walk away; his family hadn’t deemed her worthy of being his princess. But as their reunion stokes the flames of their passion, can she trust that this time their bond is strong enough to prove them all wrong?

From Harlequin Presents: Escape to exotic locations where passion knows no bounds.

 My Review:

Lucy Monroe’s latest series of Princesses by Royal Decree is here and I was truly hooked. It’s a story of the second prince of Mirrus, Konstantin (if you read the first series, he is infamous for being a playboy) who apparently has an adorable 5-year-old son. (I’m so enamored with his son).

When Konstantin was in University, he had a discreet mistress, Emma whom he had to leave because of his responsibility as a royal prince to marry Nataliya. Despite the non-string-relationship, Emma was heartbroken to hear the contract and disappeared from his life. Five years later, they happen to meet again when Emma is in a bank with their son, Mikhail, waiting in queue. Konstantin immediately recognizes that Mikhail is his thus he goes along with Emma to settle the matter.

I so love Emma’s characters, after what she had been through, she becomes really strong and independent and doesn’t show her vulnerability in front of Konstantin, she keeps her outrage in control yet when Konstantin accuses her of what had happened, she is enraged and reveals how she lived her life. I could feel the sentiment of the rage that emanates from Emma particularly when she unwraps the evidences however for the sake’s of their son whom is thrilled to have a father, she lets Konstantin to be involved in her and their son’s life. For me, Mikhail has a crucial role within this story apart from being utterly charming he succeeds in reconciling his parents to become a family.

Lucy Monroe has again successfully created a different royal story which made me hooked. His Majesty’s Hidden Heir is another pleasing and compelling emotional story which involves heartwarming feeling at the end. I cannot wait the story of the third prince of Mirrus! Thank you, Lucy Monroe, for this ARC which I voluntary reviewed, it is a really enjoyable reading.

Title: A Rose for Laura
(The Rose Room Rogues Book 3)
Author: Callie Hutton
Published: September 2021
Genre: Historical Romance

Blurb:

Keniel Singh, a bi-racial by-blow of the former Earl of Huntington is unknown to his three brothers. He was born to Chloe Singh, an artist mother who was Jamaican. She had a brief affair with the former Earl of Huntington when he was there to check on one of his plantations.

On her deathbed she tells Keniel of his heritage and encourages him to find his family. He sets out for London and is soon employed at The Rose Room, while his brothers, the owners, do not know who he is.

Miss Laura Benson is an almost spinster who champions children on the London street. She’s raised enough money to rent a house for an orphanage. She is upset to learn that a Mr. Keniel Singh has put in a bid to buy the house for himself. She visits him and finds a young, handsome, charming man who won’t give up the purchase of ‘her’ house.

Keniel is attracted to the spirited, beautiful woman, but holds back, sure she would never consider any sort of relationship with him because of his heritage. However, to keep her in his life, he refuses to break the contract for the house. Instead, he offers to help her find another one.

Laura is equally attracted to the man, but his refusal to allow her the house that she deems perfect for the children, and the fact that he manages a gambling house patronized by the very men who produce these cast off children warns her to keep her heart close.

As Keniel’s feelings grow, can he change her mind?

My Review:

What a fabulous book with a satisfying epilogue! Keniel Singh and Laura Benson are encountered in a leased property where Laura requires it for her orphanage meanwhile Keniel requires it for his permanent residence. Keniel irritates Laura because he doesn’t want to withdraw his intention to purchase the house that it always leads them to dispute the property.

Throughout their search for finding the house, they both have compelling attraction that they couldn’t resist. What I love the most from this series is the Rose heroes couldn’t hide and keep their hands off of the heroines including Keniel. Keniel wants to have more than friend relationship with Laura however his insecurities of his heritage and the status quo make him evade Laura because she is an heiress of successful businessman and is welcome in the ton whereas he isn’t but he cares for her and wants her to be happy.

Callie Hutton did amaze me over again with this latest series, not only does this book tell how the volatile of the cast off children in the past matters but also how the racial issue arises. Nevertheless I was overjoyed when Keniel and Laura conquer the status quo. What an enjoyable reading with the unusual hero and all the issues arise within this historical romance, I personally recommend this! Thank you, Callie Hutton for this ARC which I voluntary reviewed.

About the author

My historical romances are full of heat, and quirky characters. I’ve always loved history, which was my college major. Things of the past fascinate me. Not those boring history classes in high school, but the history of people. How they lived their lives, what they ate, what they wore, the challenges they faced, what they worried about.

I have recently delved into Historical Cozy Mysteries. My very first one, For the Love of the Baron, a Historical Suspense novella, spurred me to try a full length, non-romance focused cozy mystery. A study in Murder released this year from Crooked Lane Publishing, and the reviews have been very good. The second book in that series, The Sign of Death, will release in April of 2021.

Although those books are not strictly romance, the main characters, William, Lord Wethington, and Lady Amy Lovell have formed a friendship while solving a murder mystery. Who knows where that will take them?

Take a look around my website and check out some of the books I write, and their lovely covers.

Title: How Not to Chaperon a Lady
(The Talk of Beau Monde Book 3)
Author: Virginia Heath
Published: September 2021
Genre: Historical Romance, Regency, Mills & Boon Historical, Harlequin Historical

Blurb:

His childhood nemesis…

…is the woman he can’t resist!

Chaperoning Charity Brookes while she’s on a singing tour should be easy for Griffith Philpot – he’s spent his whole life sparring with her over her flighty ways! But as he discovers that she’s much more than the impetuous girl he thought he knew, a passion ignites between them… Sharing a steamy kiss leaves him torn – he’s supposed to be responsible for guarding her virtue!

From Harlequin Historical: Your romantic escape to the past.

My Review:

Finally the last book of The Talk of the Beau Monde is released. I was more than content after having finished reading the story of Charity Brookes!

The last daughter of Brookes family, Charity has very opposite characters to her two sisters. If you haven’t read the prior series of this book, it’s fine because you could read it separately but I would recommend reading them. Charity is very beautiful, talented at singing, charming, rebellious albeit a flirt yet beneath those characters I found other unexpected personality that I love her even more than her sisters. Charity is assigned to have singing tour and she plans on having little adventure with her best friend, Dorothy however Griffith, a brother of Dorothy’s is so overprotective and is determined to protect his sister by chaperoning them.

Gruff Griff (Griffith) and Charity are childhood friends yet their relation has never been good, it is because Griff has a deep feeling for Charity that he feels so visibly irritated toward himself and her. During their journey, Charity and Griff gradually understand one another. At the last week of the tour, Charity and Griff have a big argument due to his irrational and obsessive jealousy that they eventually end up succumbing to their lust.

Virginia Heath is one of most favorite authors of mine. Her story has always been so hilarious, entertaining and has clever wordplay in spite of the flaw within the flawless characters we assume at first, it successfully completes the story. Gruff Griff is a hero I adore, not only is he handsome, but also a genius who loves drawing steam engines and math. Despite the predicament, I love how Gruff Griff determinedly wants to make Charity falls in love with him.

How Not to Chaperon a Lady is a very delightful, page-turning and fulfilling reading from the first page to the end. Virginia Heath has wonderfully completed The Talk of Beau Monde series with Charity and Griffith’s story, the friendship that the heroes from this series forge and the family ties is so heartwarming and entertaining. Thank you, Virginia Heath for this ARC. I highly recommend it.

From Harlequin Presents: Escape to exotic locations where passion know no bounds.

 My Review:

It’s an upcoming debut book from Jadesola James! I was so absorbed into this another version of Cinderella with unusual heroine whom I simply adore. A handsome brooding hero, Laurence is going to attend a gala in a lavish hotel then he spots a familiar pretty woman, Kitty Asare, in the same dining room having extravagant dinner alone. Waiting for his mutual girlfriend while having dinner, Laurence doesn’t realize that he is discarded by her when he needs her to deal with his intended business.

Kitty has to join the gala in order to gain lifetime supporters for her foundation despite her demurral. I love how the author, Jadesola defines Kitty as the real Cinderella. Kitty is physically and sexually attractive that Laurence can’t stop scrutinizing her during dinner, she is very intelligent, poor, fiercely independent, kind-hearted, witty and funny. She sets up the foundation for youths so that they can forge their own life in the future.

When Kitty warmly greets Laurence to start finding supporters, he immediately asks her to leave because she charges her extravagant dinner into his room (I told you she is very intelligent and funny) yet both Kitty and Laurence apparently have clear and close connection in the past that I kept wondering what it was until an accident happens upon them which Kitty kindly safes Laurence’s life and their past reveals gradually  (I’m not giving you more spoiler). Feeling compelled to pay the debt, Laurence offers Kitty to be his fake girlfriend which she instantaneously refuses but after proposing Kitty will gain an expeditious access finding donation for her foundation, she accepts.

To be frank I love the author’s writing. Despite a debut book, it wanders into something which I had never read before, (because I’m a bit picky at reading). She helps me understand how foster kids from other states have to live, how detail the food is with its obvious explanation (hmm, so tempting), how Laurence obtains his business through stories and more important how steamy the relationship between Laurence and Kitty is until some dramatic traumas appear and they end up hurting each other but don’t worry, happily-ever-after is guaranteed here!

Redeemed by his New York Cinderella has special compelling multicultural story which wrapped into steamy, pleasant and funny relation between the characters that amuses me over and over. Thank you, Jadesola James, for this ARC which I voluntary reviewed. I really recommend it!

Title: Summer Pleasures

Genre: Historical Romance

Blurb:

Hold on to your fans and get ready for the duchesses to clutch their pearls – the social season may have ended but the summer season is just getting started and it will be a scorcher!

Summer Pleasures, the latest Historical Romance anthology for charity the authors at The New Romance Café, is heating up your Kindle from August, with a limited time romance collection.

All proceeds go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

My Review:

What a glorious-steamy-gripping romance! Seven talented authors are here with their fascinating and scheming stories that gasp you till the end.

A Midsummer Night’s Kiss by Lara Temple

A war-widowed Lily has to deal with Lord Carrington, a suitor for her sister whom the sister refuses because her sister loves another man. When she faces Marcus, Lord Carrington, she hardly believes that Marcus proposes for three kisses in exchange for her sister’s freedom. I obviously adore this! The first kiss is so intense and steamy beneath the wounding history, poetry and sexual desire between Lily and Marcus.

My Heiress ‘Tis of Thee by Catherine Stein

Second love chance! Graham, an owner magazine is utterly devastated to break up with Lillian, a photojournalist. He is trying to forget about her by going around an exhibition yet he finds her wherever he goes. Eventually they have to fix their unresolved issue and never-ending desire. I was so captivated both by the characters and the places within this. Catherine Stein’s magical writing always succeeds in conjuring up my imagination.

Forget Me Not by Sadie Bosque

Melinda, a shy awkward farm girl is accompanying her cousin to meet her suitor then she meets the suitor’s green-eyes handsome brother, Christopher whom captivates her however Christopher has contracted himself to join the army and can’t promise Melinda for the future. When they spend a blissful night together, Christopher asks Melinda to wait for him and never forget him, sadly he leaves part of him within Melinda that Melinda has to cope with alone. This was so emotional yet uplifting, I love this story especially how her cousin doesn’t let the issue afflicted to Melinda unsettle.

A Summer Quest by Caro Kinkead

A scandal that breaks a beloved couple apart! Sophie is coerced to marry a viscount despite her refusal. Her parents are in opposition to Sophie’s choice of suitor, Philip, due to a scandal that his brother committed however the intelligent couple conspire to reveal the viscount’s scheme. This one is so entertaining with genius Lady Sophie.

Four House Parties and A Mystery by Alexa Santi

Grace has to accompany her aunt to four parties yet what she finds is some incidents that involves her, her aunt and a mysterious man in disguise that follows her. This story has more surprising and unbelievable ending. I love this!

The Honorable Mr. Gresham Asks a Question by Shanti James

Max, an ex-soldier, has nasty past during the war and he moves to India to work there. He becomes friend with An Anglo-Indian private secretary, Diana. Max is so besotted with Diana and wants to be more than friend on the other hand Diana assumes that he wants her as mistress. This has so many insightful histories of the rulers in India. How fascinating!

Midnight Intrigues by Courtney A.K. Shinn

A mysterious club, a Dowager Duchess, a Dowager Duchess’s companion and a murder! What an unpredictable story that makes you stunned.

Each talented author within this has their own impressive writing that led me into steamy romance, never-ending desire, emotional turmoil, successful scheme, passionate investigation, historical insight, and really uplifting ending. I personally recommend this for readers who want to enjoy the summer with Summer Pleasures. Thank you, Lara Temple, for giving me this ARC. I did enjoy this!

From Harlequin Presents: Escape to exotic locations where passion knows no bounds.

My Review:

Yuhuuu, here is Annie West’s latest book. I have read several books of hers and so far she hasn’t disappointed me with her stories therefore when I got this ARC whilst having school holiday, I had been assuming this would be a perfect book to read, relax and escape to Greece. Indeed, it was.

A billionaire playboy with big body and green eyes, Strato Doukas is enjoying his hedonistic life on his yacht, however he seems to feel empty and uninterested then when he lands whilst sunbathing, he sees a boat taking a woman with curvaceous body and long black hair that he assumes doesn’t exist anymore. Cora Georgiou, a marine biologist thinks that Strato is stranded and being tricked by some irresponsible friends, so she approaches him in order to look over him and she is surprised to see him naked. (I couldn’t stop imagining it haha)

Kind hearted and very decent Cora can’t abandon him therefore she takes care of him by giving her food and drink, she has no slightest notion who he is so she offers her shorts for him. What I loved the most is both presume each other as Greek mythology, Strato thinks that she is Nereid whereas Cora thinks that he is Poseidon. Strato is so strongly and sexually attracted to Cora and he will do anything to have passionate affair with her thus he comes to her with unexpected proposal.

I was so taken by their mutual desire, steamy attraction and passionate affair yet every time Cora compares Strato with a man she associated with in the past made me eagerly guess what actually had happened and every time Strato feels so possessive of her, he is afraid of something dark in the past might appear until they discover that Cora is pregnant and it kept me turning the pages.

Well West’s book is a perfect book for an escapist like me where I was indulged into stunning Greek island and steamy romantic affair between a playboy hedonistic Strato, who apparently is so thoughtful and generous and an independent decent Cora that at the end succeeds in making Strato obsessively jealous. Despite lack of interpretation how Cora works in the sea as marine biologist, I still loved her character. Thank you, Annie West, for this ARC which I voluntarily reviewed.
