Title: Beyond Repair
(Sass and Steam Book 4)
Author: Catherine Stein
Published: February 2022
Genre: Historical Romance, Adventure, Science-Fiction, Steampunk, Pirate

Blurb:

When life is a broken wreck, it takes a special kind of doctor to put the pieces back together.

Owen Cassidy’s life is in a shambles. His business is plagued by catastrophic malfunctions, a near-fatal attack has left him with a shoulder full of gears and wires, and the lady doctor who saved his life insists on the bedrest over action. To make matters worse, she’s perpetually cheerful, utterly gorgeous, and entirely uninterested in him.

Dr. Eleanor Taylor has no intention of letting an obstinate, uncooperative tycoon ruin her hard work. Nora’s never been swayed by a handsome face, so desire is the last thing she expects to complicate the situation. But when she and Owen begin to bond, amorous feelings she’s rarely experienced – and doesn’t know how to handle – spark to life.

As Nora and Owen find themselves lost in a tangle of friendship and blazing passion, their enemy’s schemes become wilder and more dangerous. To escape with their lives and hearts intact, they’ll need all their wits, all their skills, and a relationship on the deepest trust.

My Review:

It is a marvellously entertaining read which is full of every imaginable thing you want in a book!

Owen Cassidy, a handsome wealthy yet stubborn tycoon is found injured by Nora, an unusual lady doctor with the kindest heart, calm and cheerful personality. Feeling it’s her duty to assist Owen with his biomechanics shoulder, Nora insists him stay and practise using his hand properly however Owen doesn’t like being told what he has to do thus he flees to St. Louis where his business runs and he resides, indeed Nora pursues him. Catastrophe after catastrophe comes towards Owen’s business and genius deductive Nora is determined to help and she will optimistically make the rigid Owen smile as she thinks they have befriended. When the situation is getting worse, an anonymous adversary abducts Nora in a boat and eventually her genius mind has suspected some of Owen’s trusted associates and they romantic wonderful albeit dangerous adventures begin.

I might be exaggeratingly telling you how smitten I was with Nora and Owen but it’s true. You will likely be finding Nora’s appearance less ladylike but I could imagine her being utterly beautiful with her blue-green eyes, short red hair, and trousers and vast. Despite her age, she is totally inexperienced in sexual intercourse and only has bookish knowledge therefore when she first feels strongly sexually attracted to Owen, she doesn’t know what to do or how to deal with the feeling. Meanwhile Owen, his unusual height has always been a problem within the story yet I could figure how attractive he must be. The more I turned the pages the more I was being immersed into their true characters and their adventures especially for its science, technologies and the airship!

Catherine Stein is an incredibly talented author, having completely immersive and imaginative writing that brought me into refreshingly science-fiction world that has steam car, kitten-dragon, and any other imaginary technologies I pondered. Beyond Repair is utterly entertaining, immersive and achingly romantic. To be frank I love everything within this book! Thank you, Catherine Stein, for this ARC which I voluntary reviewed.

Title: The Earl’s Inconvenient Houseguest
(The Very Village Scandal Book 1)

Genre: Historical Romance, Harlequin Historical, Regency, Mills & Boon Historical, Enemies-to-Lovers

Blurb:

The Earl she loved to hate

until she stayed in his mansion!

Sophie Gilbert has thwarted the standoffish new earl’s plans to sell his country estate and the quaint village that forms part of it. But when disaster strikes and he offers her refuge, she must reconsider everything about this vexing, determined man. After the heartbreak in her past, it’s a revelation to feel her pulse racing and her body yearning for his touch…

From Harlequin: Your romantic escape to the past.

A Very Village Scandal Where love can be found at every turn

My Review:

Miss Heath has brought a story far from the life of London ton! Rafe, a new Earl of Hockley, is resolutely determined to sell the inherited country estate so that he can live further from the society with his brother. However, the strong outspoken Sophie cannot let that happen as there will be so many villagers evicted from the Whittleston-on-the-Water village including her dear aunt.

This book was refreshingly different from what I had expected. I was taken into how the villagers jointly march for the justice of their residences, how cleverly Sophie prevents the buyers from visiting the estate and how defiant she is towards Rafe with its sarcasm and banter yet beneath its controversial march, there are so many painful secrets that made me want to turn the pages over and over. When Sophie is in dire of predicament, Rafe kindly offers his residence for Sophie and her aunt to stay and eventually the undeniable secrets, Rafe’s brother’s condition and their sexual attraction emerge.

Not only does The Earl’s Inconvenient Houseguest have truly compelling characters among the villagers but also a challenge prejudice about disabled person and love. If you want a refreshing and entertaining read, this is for you as I also love it! Thank you, Virginia Heath, for this ARC which I voluntary reviewed

Title: The Billionaire’s Last-Minute Marriage
(The Greek’s Race to the Altar #2)

Blurb:

He’s heir to an empire…if he can find a wife in time! Enjoy this dramatic marriage-of-convenience romance from Amanda Cinelli.

From personal assistant…

…to stand-in-bride!

From Harlequin Presents: Escape to exotic locations where passion knows no bounds.

My Review:

Finally the second book of the Greek’s Race to the Altar is here. As I assumed, this is a perfect read with a unique heroine and I loved it! Being left and humiliated by Priya prior the wedding, Xander, the ruthless and perfect billionaire accuses his secretary, Pandora, of leaking his flawless wedding plan however when he searches for her in the Mytikas headquarters, he is informed that Pandora has resigned and can’t be found.

When Pandora thinks that her boss is having a wedding, she goes to Zeus’s residence, Xander’s cruel father, to find a scandalous file that can threat her family and has been kept by Zeus to make her work for him, whilst searching for it, she doesn’t realize that Xander is there and eventually they are trapped in the room and it was so pulse-pounding.

From the beginning, I had an inkling I would be captivated by not only Pandora but also Xander because I never read a genius autistic heroine so when she shrugs her shoulders to answer the questions like it’s no a big deal, I couldn’t help but admiring her and she is unused to any romantic things. Meanwhile Xander, despite having threatened Pandora to marry him in haste and being so ruthless and competitive, he is so considerate and cares for Pandora. I used to reading comics thus when Xander and Pandora go to Japan for business and their brief honeymoon, I could conjure the setting up and it was ideal for their hot-kissing-practice and pleasure ohoho …

The Billionaire’s Last-Minute Marriage has fascinating characters and setting which will make you enjoy reading it. It’s recommended for whoever loves unique heroine and setting. Thank you, Amanda Cinelli, for this ARC!

Title: Snowbound in His Billion-Dollar Bed
Author: Kali Anthony
Published: January/February 2022
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Harlequin Presents, Mills & Boon Modern

Blurb:

There’s no escaping their chemistry when the Italian count and the violinist are stranded in this intense forced proximity romance from Kali Anthony!

Outside a snowstorm is raging
Inside the temperature is rising…

Ousted from Italian high society, Count Stefano Moretti has locked himself behind his castle walls. He’s determined to right the wrongs that ruined his family’s name. The arrival of the beautiful Lucy Jamieson at his door is a distraction he can’t afford!

Running from heartbreak, violinist Lucy is attempting to return a precious heirloom. Caught in a bitter snowstorm, she’s forced to seek shelter in Stefano’s castle. Where she finds herself longing to unravel the truth behind his disgraced reputation… and to discover the searing heat promised in his bed!

From Harlequin Presents: Escape to exotic locations where passion knows no bounds.

My Review:

What a wonderful read! To be frank, I seemed to be thinking how Kali Anthony could clearly outline the characters, Stefano and Lucy, because throughout reading the book, my imagination kept working on visualizing them. Here you will be finding a gothic hero, Stefano, despite his divine physical appearance and a heroine, Lucy, who has dazzling strawberry blonde hair, unusual-yet-captivating socks and gloves and is a very talented violinist.

Feeling determined to clear his family name from disgrace caused by him, Stefano attempts to find the lost royal jewel and release his siblings from the burden as the protector of Lasserno Monarch. After having resigned as the private secretary for the Prince, he returns to his ancient castle and plans on staying there, as the Count of Varno, however when the heavy snow falls, Lucy knocks on his door to ask for a shelter. At first indeed he adamantly refuses but seeing Lucy get freezing and broken car, he lets her stay. Apparently both have hidden intention of their own.

Lucy and Stefano have similar issues, both have been betrayed by their love and feeling anxious what would they be if they didn’t do their current position, I realized that Lucy’s issues are more complicated than Stefano yet Stefano beats himself up too hard because of his past. They finally succumb to their undeniable attraction in Stefano’s bed ohoho …One thing that surprised me greatly was what Lucy’s grandfather stole after the World War II from Lasserno.

For me, Snowbound in His Billion-Dollar Bed is dramatically intriguing and romantic with the detailed castle setting and its brief romantic history of World War II. I so loved Lucy characters when she denies Stefano after his hurtful statement because she keeps her dignity not to succumb again. Thank you, Kali Anthony, for this ARC which I voluntary reviewed.

Title: Her Legendary Highlander
(Lovers & Legends #13)
Author: Nicole Locke
Published: December 2021
Genre: Historical Romance, Historical Fiction, Sagas, Medieval Romance, Harlequin Historical, Mills & Boon

Blurb:

Her rugged prisoner

becomes her fiercest protector

Capturing legendary Highlander Malcolm of Clan Colquhoun was Andreona’s last chance to win her tyrannical father’s respect. Instead he orders them both to be killed! Resigned to her devastating role as the family outcast, she and her prisoner escape and continue on is quest to return a treasured heirloom. They find solace in their unexpected passion, but haunted by a lifetime of betrayals, will either dare to hope it could last beyond their journey?

From Harlequin Historical: Your romantic escape to the past.

My Review:

Bravo, bravo Nicole Locke! I so love it! I couldn’t help but feeling fascinated after having finished reading it. Andreona is spying two suspicious men coming towards Basque terrain. She and her childhood friend, Uracca have safeguarded and designed a net to catch uninvited outsiders to be sent to her father, Gorka, in order to gain her father’s approval. Actually Andreona and other women are banished from Basque clan because they are half-blood of the clan thus she is strongly inclined to impress her father by catching trespassers so that she can return to the clan.

When Andreona’s friends succeed in catching his only friend, Malcolm infiltrates into Andreona’s place and there, they begin wrestling and I was instantly impressed because Andreona is a tiny lass on the other hand Malcolm is a beautiful big man with a long scar from the body along his face and eventually he becomes her prisoner. Malcolm determinedly approaches Basque Country to acquire a dagger that has Jewell of Kings and mysterious treasure beneath it for his clan then he plans to run and evade his family due to his profound mistrust and family’s betrayal.

The more I turned the pages, the more I couldn’t stop reading particularly when Andreona finds out that her brother and childhood friend’s betrayal. Malcolm fully understands how it feels to be betrayed and he has compelling desire towards her therefore when she rather insists on going with Malcolm than going with her friend, he agrees.

I kept wondering how Miss Locke could create this story with its engrossing historical intrigue and plot, two characters who had similar issue yet each overcame it with different views and more important, its slow-burn attraction between Malcolm and Andreona. Andreona is a complete innocent (literally) and I loved when Malcolm leads the move. Yuhuuuu …

Her Legendary Highlander captivated me into emotional roller-coaster through its characters combined with its engrossing historical intrigue and plot and the uplifting ending that made me want to read the other series. Thank you, Nicole Locke, for this ARC which I voluntary reviewed.
